The Ying Ming Theater

George-Augustus-Göttingen University, situated in the picturesque western foothills of the Harz Mountains, boasts a rich academic heritage spanning over 300 years. It serves as a thriving center of intellectual and cultural excellence, nurturing countless predecessors of 45 Nobel Prize laureates and inspiring generations of students. In the summer of 2019, a passionate group of individuals came together to establish the Chinese Theater in Göttingen. Their shared vision was to foster a vibrant theater community that showcases diverse talents while promoting cross-cultural exchange. The group is committed to transcending stereotypes and avoiding both exoticism and anti-orientalism. Exploring themes of subjectivity, freedom, rationality, justice, and identity within a global context, they strive to create a platform for intercultural communication that facilitates greater accessibility and understanding among different cultures.
