Xavier Le Roy

Xavier Le Roy, a molecular biology Ph.D. holder, has been an artist since 1991. He currently serves as a professor at the Institute for Applied Theater Studies in Giessen, Germany. Notable for his solo works like “Self Unfinished” (1998) and “Product of Circumstances” (1999), Le Roy has significantly influenced choreography. He has also led collaborative projects, exploring production and group dynamics in works such as “E.X.T.E.N.S.I.O.N.S.” (1999-2000) and “6 Months 1 Location” (2008). Le Roy’s pieces like “Le Sacre du Printemps” (2007) and “Low Pieces” (2011) explore the relationships between spectators, performers, and subjectivities. Recent works include “Still in Hong Kong” (2021) and “Still (Life) ln Taipei” (2022). In 2018, he revisited “The Rite of Spring,” and its subsequent versions addressed societal norms and disability, continuing with “We are not monsters” (2020-2021).
