Dr. Yumin Ao is a scholar, theatre director, and curator based in Hamburg. She has taught at universities in Germany, the United States, and China, and has conducted research on Chinese theatre, contemporary performance, and urban culture. Her artistic practice combines theatre, film, and sound art to explore the evolving relationships between cities, societies, and human experiences in the contemporary world.

She is currently President of the German Association for Asian Art (Deutscher Verein für Asiatische Kunst e.V.). In this role, she actively develops collaborations with German cultural institutions, arts organizations, and foundations, while curating theatre, performance, and cross-cultural exchange projects. Her work is dedicated to fostering artistic exchange between Asia and Europe, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and creating an open and diverse platform for international cultural dialogue.
