Controlled Dislocation: Law, Theatre, and the Limits of Judgment
This workshop, based on20:, takes the play’s “trial” scene and the concept of the “banality of evil” as its entry point. Designed for legal scholars in Germany, it moves through four segments—reflection on the theatrical experience, close reading of texts, embodied judgment exercises, and a return to legal practice—to create a controlled dislocation between legal judgment and theatrical judgment, letting participants experience the fundamental tension that a court can judge actions but struggles to judge “the absence of thinking.”
