Xiaoer Liu 刘潇儿 @liuxiaoer.art (1993) currently lives and works in Berlin, Germany. She arrived in Berlin in 2016 to study at the Berlin University of the Arts, where she continued and graduated with her study in time-based media and performance art. Liu works across video, performances, drawing, sound, and installation. Her works explore human trauma and social problems, where she draws inspiration from triggering phenomena found in daily life. Finding the “philosophical meaning behind the surface” has always been a question for Liu. By linking artistic works and psychological autonomy, she deconstructs the manipulative patterns of narcissism in a capitalist society. In addition, her works can be seen as a rebellion against patriarchy and bureaucracy, casting light on human rights and female autonomy. As a young emerging artist, she has been hosting and participating in more than 60 solo and group exhibitions, film screenings, performance festivals, and interviews worldwide.
